Break the Silence… Reveal the Truth
Justice for Dr. Ban Ziad Tariq… the voice of Iraqi women in the face of oppression.
No more silence: Iraqi women are being kidnapped and killed while criminals escape punishment.
It’s a cry for Iraqi women… Justice first.
Amid a reality that threatens freedom of opinion and expression, and human rights in Iraq, Iraqi women are subjected to the most horrific forms of violations, from domestic and societal killings to political persecution and kidnapping. The latest of these is the horrific crime against Dr. Ban Ziad Tariq, who was kidnapped from her home on August 4 by unknown individuals, rumored to be affiliated with powerful political parties. She was brutally murdered and her body mutilated, amidst government silence and blatant failure to prosecute the perpetrators, and even a cover-up of the crime.
As we invite you to attend this press conference, we seek to:
– Reveal the truth to the public about the crimes and violations women in Iraq are subjected to.
– Condemning government complicity and failure to protect women and prosecute perpetrators.
– Expressing solidarity with Iraqi women and calling for an international stance to put an end to these practices.

في ظل واقع يزداد قسوة على حرية الرأي والتعبير وحقوق الإنسان في العراق، تتعرض المرأة العراقية لأبشع أشكال الانتهاك، من قتل أسري ومجتمعي، إلى اضطهاد وخطف سياسي. وآخرها الجريمة المروّعة التي طالت الطبيبة النفسية بان زياد طارق، والتي اختُطفت من دارها على يد مجهولين يُشاع أنهم تابعون لجهات سياسية متسلطة، حيث تم التمثيل بجسدها وقتلها بوحشية في 4 آب/ أغسطس 2025، وسط صمت حكومي وتقصير فاضح في ملاحقة الجناة، بل وتغطية على الجريمة.
إننا إذ ندعوكم لحضور هذا المؤتمر الصحفي، فإننا نسعى إلى:
- كشف الحقائق للرأي العام حول ما تتعرض له النساء في العراق من جرائم وانتهاكات.
- إدانة التواطؤ الحكومي والتقصير في حماية النساء وملاحقة الجناة.
- التضامن مع المرأة العراقية والدعوة إلى موقف دولي ضاغط يضع حداً لهذه الممارسات.
